JCR makes a nice 1ton setup. You can choose over or under the knuckle setup which is also a nice advantage. Cant beat the price for what you get either.

I have a, V8 Zj Steering setup forsale It's solid tube and a direct bolt in(so xj as well). Drag link portion just replaced before my 1 ton swap began, has less than 3k on it $80 Let me know I can get pics or whatever if you need them

There are a ton of writeups on the v8 swap on jeepforum, it's quite abit stouter than the stock setup

The strongest set up out there IMO

Nice setup, but heims on a daily driver = suck.

I think andrew had that setup for all of 1 day before he took it off and went back to the stock setup on his old XJ.

What I like about the JCR setup is that if an end goes bad, they give you the part numbers (that are carried at most all parts stores) to replace them with. Heck, if you feel like building your own, getting the right ends is half the battle.

I have the first gen RK steering and I don't like it. No doubt that it's strong, but I have already had one Heim break (while backing out of a parking space) and it's got way too much play. Their new design might be better, but I don't like the way the bracket bolts up.

I'll be switching over to the JCR setup here pretty soon.

I know quite a few people who run them, havent heard a complaint yet. I used heims on my hd steering when I built it. I dont drive it daily but it gets plenty abuse and the heims are quiet even on the road. I would stay away from heims on the links, but don't have a problem useing them on the steering.

JCR here. I went over the knuckle with mine, it's held up great for what it's worth. Only problem was I had a little slop in the steering wheel because of the angles and the TRE flopping around. I added a metal spacer on top of the polly spacer JCR uses and it cleared it right up.

I'd recomend looking at JCR to get the idea then build your own. All you would need is some tube, tube adaptors, and the TREs.
