    Inverted y-link possible?

Do you think it's possible to make a long arm y-link setup with the main long arm using the upper mounts and short arm going to the lower mounts? It's just like RE's long arm, except it's upside down. A fabber I know was tossing this idea around, to achieve better ground clearance. He also wanted to mount the main arms up on the side of the xj's frame rails (like Trek's) instead of hanging down like most kits.

Those nice, long arms act as a skid to slide over things. You want them that way.
    Something catchy goes here.

The lower links don't have to be straight. Keep that in mind when building them and you can get more ground clearance. (I'd stick with a 3 link with a track bar or 4 link with track bar if your doing that)
I have about a 10-15 degree angle put into mine. Puts it right in-line with the driveshaft and at full stuff it just barely misses the frame.

Reasons for keeping the lower links on a Radius Arm suspension straight on the bottom are for 2 reasons. Strength and physical space. When you start crunching the numbers, you'll find it very difficult to place the links on the axle and frame while keeping good goemetry numbers without getting interference with the frame or other components. Not saying it can't be done, but to make it work good it won't be easy.
