Glad you're alright.
There are some real nutballs down there who don't like strangers and will fire over your head to scare you away from their marijuana/booze still/whatever they're cooking. F*ckin hillbillies.
There are a few things that you carry and I have to ask...WHY!?!?!?
Gas Mask, Chemical Weapons detector, Chem Suit...
Honestly, seems like wasted space to me.
Ummmm, ...ok I was trying to think of something witty to say that would be funny and yet....
words escape me as I can't figure it out either. I've never been concerned about the random chemical attack in my backyard...I'm often lucky I can find a flashlight that has working batteries ... Ohhhh, and doesnt make funny chicken noises when you turn it on...
"Some people are like Slinkies - not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs."
I thought I explained why. I drove through Washington, DC a few times a week. I put all that stuff in my truck's kit after 9-11.
You may call it a waste of space, but when if the terrorists did pull off a chem/bio attack (we know they were trying too) in DC and I was prepared.
Just like carrying a firearm, I rather have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Hope you got an Rx for that morphine, or you might want to think twice before you call the cops to your location again.
Sounds like you made the right moves when confronted with the hostiles. I used to be a cave guide up at Laurel Caverns and there are a bunch of nutjobs out there. I drove an old blue Saab 900 turbo at the time (going to Cal U) and they looked at me like I was an alien when I would cross paths with em' on the back roads.

Laurel Cavern's is a commercalized cave. Though they do have a self guided part of the cave.
I was a guide there back in the late 90's. I would take people down through the caverns, usually groups like Boy Scouts and such. At that time they did allow some people to do self-guided crawling around, as long as they had some experience. It was a fun job for a college kid - they were exploring some new caves and I got to help map some of them. You can go about a mile underground, there are all kinds of little offshoots of the main trails. The nice part is that it is 55 degrees in there all year round.
I have no idea what the rules and stuff are now - they were in a financial bind when I left and I'm suprised they are still open.
