I still think the 14bolt is a better idea.

Nah, do the D44 in the rear. They are easy to find and easy to put in.

Rockwells damnit...I thought he was doing it right the first time?
This is a build on a budget. I am sure it will be quite capable when it is all said and done.

I'd never go with a 14b w/ tires less than 42's, I get hung up on it a lot.
Not to be too nebby but ballpark the budget.... please?

I didn't say budget...Bill did. It will eventually have everything I want it to have. I'd say probably somewhere around $6,000.
It's the same bright blue that is on the Nitro sitting at Mick's up on Rt. 60.steve, i have been trying to find that 2008 dodge power wagon blue...where can i see it at...i am intrigued...i cant even find anything on the 2008 dodge power wagon, let alone it in blue

I know where you can get an entire wrecked 93-ish dodge W300 (got a real D60 up front) with the 6BT & a stick for $1500

It is a Getrag if it is a CTD stick before 94. There is a kit to swap in a NVG4500.
How badly is it wrecked?

I'm not completely worthless, I can always serve as a bad example.
Every time I walk into a singles bar I think of my mom's wise words, "Don't pick that up, you don't know where it's been."
Anywhoooo...I'm not going w/ a diesel. I want something I can drop in there, with minimal hassle, confusion, and time. It's going to be a 4.0L, with an NV4500 behind it. The extra low 1st gear, and the excellent overdrive will do me very good both on the trail and getting to it. T-case is still up in the air...I know I'll have a tough time finding a Roc-Trac out of a Rubicon for a somewhat decent price, but ya never know. I'd take a 231 w/ a 4:1 kit, or do up a D300 too.
Driveline is a long ways out, I'm kinda doing this build backwards, all my trimming and armor will be first, because it's cheap and I can afford it with minimal money right now. Obviously if I come across a great deal on a part, or someone wants to trade parts for fabrication work...I'm all about it.

I just bought a D300 for my YJ to twin stick & put behind my 231 with this kit

?
400 is too much?
Got my D300 for $125 & I already have the 231, while the cheapest teralow/ D300 low gear set I've ever seen is 800-ish and Atlas/Stak is $2300-ish
You get a 7.1:1 low without being stuck with a 4:1 single low range
Simple twin stickability and stock fixed yokes
D300 4:1 upgradeable later for stupid low AND more middle ground options
Only a couple inchs longer then the 231 itself
Plus if you blow something apart a junkyard t-case is all you need
and you can run this at any speed unlike the tera-low

I would have to buy a 231, a 300, a twin stick setup, that kit, bla bla bla. I just found a Roc-Trac for $700...it's looking pretty good w/ 24k miles on it.
